Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has been lauded for his Paris Olympics gold medal in men’s javelin throw. With an Olympics record throw of 92.97m, he leaped to the top of the standings and stood atop the podium - ahead of Neeraj Chopra - for Pakistan’s first individual gold at the Summer Games.

Nadeem clinched Pakistan’s fourth gold in Olympics history. The previous three gold had come in field hockey, achieved in 1960, 1968, and 1984.
Before the javelin throw final, Pakistan had only won two individual medals at an Olympics: a bronze in wrestling in 1960 and a bronze in boxing in 1988.
Since Barcelona 1992, Pakistan have not won any Olympic medal. Nadeem’s remarkable throw of 92.97m changed all that and earned him multiple cash rewards and recognitions in the process.
