Ahead of AGM, BCCI announces monetary benefits for former players and umpires

Mumbai: The BCCI on Sunday announced a slew of monetary benefits for former cricketers, both domestic and international, including monthly and one-time payments, just a day before the Annual General Body Meeting of the Board on Monday. The Board also announced the match fees for the umpires officiating in both domestic and international games. All Test cricketers who retired before December 31, 1993 and have played more than 25 matches will get Rs 50000 per month, the BCCI said on its website. Reuters [/caption] All Test cricketers who retired before December 31, 1993 and have played less than 25 matches will get Rs 37500 per month while those who retired on or after January 1, 1994 will get Rs 22500 per month, it said under the heading ‘payment of monthly gratis’. Widows of Test cricketers and Test Umpires will continue to get the same amount of gratis for their lifetime. All cricketers who have represented India in One-Day International will get Rs 15000. All Ranji Trophy cricketers who have played at least 10 matches before 1957-58 season will get Rs 15000 per month. All first class cricketers who have played 25 to 49 matches up to the end of 2003-04 season will get Rs 15000 per month while those who have played 50 to 74 matches and 75 and above matches up to end of 2003-04 season will get Rs 22500 and Rs 30000 respectively. Women cricketers who have played 10 or more Tests will receive Rs 22500 per month and those who have played 5 to 9 Tests will receive Rs 15000 per month. All retired Test umpires will get Rs 22500 per month while all retired All India Panel Umpires who have officiated in ODIs as field Umpires will get 15000 per month. All Test cricketers who retired up to the end of 2003-04 season and have played more than 100 matches will get a one-time payment of Rs 1.5 crore while those who have played between 75 and 99 and between 50 and 74 will get Rs 1 crore and Rs 75 lakh respectively. Those Test cricketers who retired up to the end of 2003-04 season and have played between 25 and 49, 10 and 24, and between 1 and 9 matches will get Rs 60 lakh, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 35 lakh respectively. Cricketers who have played between 100 and more first class matches will receive Rs 30 lakhs while those who have played between 75 and 99 first-class matches will get Rs 25 lakhs. Under the heading ‘medical benevolent fund’, all first class cricketers and umpires who have played or supervised 10 or more first class matches are eligible for reimbursement of medical expenses to the extent of Rs 500000 (maximum) during their lifetime. Regarding the match fees of umpires, coaches and match referees for domestic and international games, the BCCI said: For domestic matches one-day and multi-day, Emerging Panel umpires will get Rs 20000 per day while other umpires will receive Rs 15000 per day. Match referees will get Rs 15000 per day, umpires coaches Rs 15000, video analyst Rs 7500 and assistant video analyst Rs 3000 per day. For domestic T20 (Mushtaq Ali) tournament, the payment is recommended at 50 per cent of the match fees. For international matches, umpires (ODI and T20 On field) will get Rs 182500 per day while third umpire and fourth umpires will receive Rs 182500 and Rs 40000 per day respectively. The third umpire for Test matches will get Rs 300000 while the fourth umpire will receive Rs 100000. The scorers will be paid Rs Rs 10000 per day by the staging association. Under subsidy and guarantee money, the BCCI said it will pay an Infrastructure subsidy of 50 per cent for purchase of land and construction of stadium with maximum of Rs 100 cores. Affiliated units staging international matches will not have to pay any guarantee money. PTI
