Political ally Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is among the biggest stumbling blocks for the UPA government seeking to bring in FDI in multi-brand retail, but Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said they would not let the issue affect their existing alliance.
“Mamata Banerjee is an important ally. If a State has its reservations, we need to understand that,” Sharma told CNN IBN.

“I don’t see any need to look beyond what is a stable coalition. There are always challenges and constraints in a coalition government,” Sharma said.
Sharma also added that the priorities and concerns of allies are ‘shared priorities’ and ‘shared concerns’.
