Mayawati today launched into a tirade against the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Hamid Ansari over the working of the Upper House of Parliament and its functioning was coming to a close earlier than expected every day because he was not present.

“At 12 pm you will leave the House and then nothing happens….You are the Chairman of the House you should ensure it functions.Who will ensure the house functions, hain?” an angry Mayawati shouted at Ansari when the House began proceedings.

The BSP leader launched into a tirade against the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha today. PTI

“The responsibility is yours…Otherwise the decision should be taken on what should be done,” she said.

Ansari attempted to restore calm in the House and pointed out that by shouting, the Bahujan Samaj Party leader was herself disrupting proceedings.

“You are a senior leader, it is Question Hour. Please take your seat,” he told her to no avail.

Mayawati continued to shout at the Chairman and then stormed into the well of the House with her party’s MPs where they began shouting slogans against the government.

The BSP leader was reportedly upset over the quota for reservations bill not coming up for discussion in the Upper House of Parliament, since the Samajwadi Party has been opposing it.

Ironically this comes a day after Ansari suggested that Question Hour could be done away in the Rajya Sabhawith since it was constantly being disrupted by MPs over various issues.
