What happened to na khaunga, na khane doonga?: Rahul takes a jibe at Modi over Vyapam scam

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘na khaunga, na khane doonga’ remark, and slammed BJP on corruption controversies related to Lalit Modi and Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan and the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. [caption id=“attachment_2297056” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Rahul Gandhi. PTI[/caption] “Our PM said and I want to remind you. ‘I won’t eat and won’t allow others to eat.’ Your words should carry some weight. Aap khane kyun de rahe hain (Why are you letting people eat?) In Rajasthan and in Madhya Pradesh, why are you allowing them to continue and why are you not bringing back Lalit Modi?” TV reports quoted Gandhi as saying. The Congress vice president also asked for Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s resignation over his alleged involvement into the Vyapam scam and also questioned why Lalit Modi was not being brought back to India. Rahul Gandhi’s accusations come on the day the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam. Over 40 witnesses, accused, lawyers, police officials and journalists related to the admission and recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh have lost their lives under mysterious circumstances. Opposition demands and media pressure for CBI probe into the scam had been growing as CM Chouhan finally requested the SC for CBI probe. On Thursday, the apex court ordered a CBI inquiry into the scam. Congress, along with other opposition parties have been relentlessly slamming BJP over recent controversies, accusing the Modi government of massive corruption. The opposition has blamed PM Modi for staying silent on the Lalit Modi-Sushma Swaraj-Vasundhara Raje scandal involving granting of UK Visa to the former IPL boss despite corruption allegations against him. Congress has been slamming the PM for not sacking Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje following revelations that she helped “fugitive” former IPL boss Lalit Modi. The party has also accused “bada Modi” (PM) of shielding “chhota Modi” (Lalit). Congress has also been demanding resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Raje for helping Lalit Modi, of HRD Minister Smriti Irani for misrepresenting facts about her educational qualifications, and Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde for her alleged involvement in a “scam” by clearing purchases worth Rs 206 crore on a single day without inviting tenders in violation of the norms. It is also seeking resignation of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in the wake of a “rice scam” in which Rs 36,000 crore are alleged to have been misappropriated. With inputs from PTI
