Bangkok: Vice President Hamid Ansari on Friday left for home after concluding a five-day tour of Thailand and Brunei during which he held talks with the top leadership of the two countries on ways to enhance bilateral ties.
He also called on Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the Sra Pathum Palace on Friday morning and inspected the Chitralada Project inside it.
He was seen off at the airport by Minister of Information and Communication Uttama Savanayana.
During his three-day stay in Bangkok, Ansari held talks with Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, delivered a speech at the prestigious Chulalongkorn University, addressed the Indian community, met Indologists and visited the famous temples of Reclining Buddha and Emerald Buddha.
In his address to Thai academics, businessmen and students at the Chulalongkorn University yesterday, he sought strong, coordinated action by like-minded nations to combat the "spreading tide of extremism" besides touching upon the "evolving situation" in the South China Sea (SCS) that demands restraint from all parties.
