If you are planning to spend your Diwali weekend playing teen-patti with friends and love your gossip, @LutyensSpice is one Twitter account you may want to follow. Why? Because, it claims to know things that you didn’t — like what Narendra Modi did last summer! The Twitter account describes itself as Lutyens’ official gossip channel — essentially claims to reveal the scandalous stuff that goes on in Delhi’s political circles that don’t make it to the headlines of newspapers. [caption id=“attachment_1768743” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Is @LutyenSpice PM Modi’s Twitter watchdog? PTI[/caption] The account, which started on 17 October already has over 6,000 followers after just 28 tweets and it’s easy to see why. Here’s taking a look at some of the more scandalous stuff Lutyen’s Spice has been tweeting:
Soon after coming to power, Modi government had made it clear that it will not indulge in politics of appeasement and allot bungalows in Lutyens’ zone only to cabinet ministers and heads of constitutional bodies, not MPs. According to Lutyen’s Spice, Modi wanted to give the bungalow of late UPA minister Sis Ram Ola to Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani but was warned by Finance Minister Jaitley that her occupying the bungalow right behind the prime minister’s would set tongues wagging. Ahaa! According to reports, the family of the late UPA minister has been allowed to retain their bungalow till February 2015. Then, there’s why Rajnath Singh isn’t too happy with Modi.
The rumours of a rift between the Prime Minister and his Home Minister haven’t ever died down, but it isn’t very clear how deep the rift is between them. While the Home Minister has in the past brushed aside reports of differences with the PM, saying his relations with Modi was “too sacred, emotional and deep” and that he would ensure it is never spoilt even if he is “personally harmed”. “Personally harmed?” Did he mean this?
And while the BJP was trying to solve its ‘how to form a government in Maharashtra without a majority’, Lutyen’s Spice claimed that the party already had its plan in place.
While it isn’t clear who’s behind the Twitter handle, a Reddit discussion says it has to be some “Congi/anti-BJP guy”. Case of sour grapes? Maybe. Either way we’re not complaining and will be keeping an eye on other dirty ‘secrets’ that emerge 140 characters at a time.
