Kolkata: Senior Trinamool Congress leader Sougata Roy today said his party was trying to maintain equal distance from the NDA and the UPA.
"Trinamool is based in West Bengal. We cannot form a third front on our own. We are trying to maintain equal distance from both NDA and UPA," Roy told reporters here when asked about the possibility of formation of a third front.
Roy, who had resigned as adviser to the West Bengal government's industry, commerce and IT department two months ago, also indicated that he might rejoin.
"A new advisory committee is being formed. I have got a letter on April 30 to join it," said the former union minister.
Asked whether he would join, Roy said, "The situation has changed now".
