New Delhi: The government will take a decision on the issue of carving out a separate Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh in a month, union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said Friday.
"Some who participated in the meeting said the decision should be given on Telangana as soon as possible. Some said one month," Shinde said.
"I will brief the government and within one month we will come out with the result," the home minister told reporters after an all-party meet on the issue. The minister said that he had clarified earlier that this would be the last all party meeting on this issue, adding, "I am fully satisfied and everyone left happily."
All parties including the Congress, BJP, TRS, TDP and YSR Congress had participated in the meeting which Shinde descibed as being "very cordial".
Noting that the people of Andhra Pradesh were suffering, the home minister appealed to the youth for calm and said the government was taking a decision.
However, once he stepped out from the meeting K Chandrashekhar Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi said that the meeting was "a hopeless, futile meet."
"This was all a drama," he said, adding that his party would call for a Telangana Bandh tomorrow.
