RSS not satisfied with Shinde's regret, demands apology

New Delhi: Even as the BJP accepted Sushilkumar Shinde’s regret for his ‘Hindu terror’ remark, RSS was left far from satisfied saying the Home Minister should have at least apologised for his comment. “As everyone expected that he should at least feel sorry for his remarks,” RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said today. Later, Madhav posted in micro-blogging site Twitter, “Shinde Jaipur comments were derogatory n defamatory. He merely regretted. He shud hv apologised. Also shud hv condemned Pak terrorists….” The RSS and the BJP seem divided on the issue, as the main opposition party has put a lid on the issue while accepting the regret statement issued by Shinde yesterday over his controversial remark. Reuters[/caption] “The party has decided to end the matter on Shinde,” BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said when he was asked about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh seeking an apology instead of a regret. Meanwhile, the RSS spokesperson said what is more sad is that many people have made anti-India remarks on the basis of Shinde’s remarks and he in turn has said nothing about them, especially against terrorists who targeted India. “The damage to India that has been done due to his comments. The strength it has given to those against India. He did not speak a single word about them. It is very unfortunate,” Madhav said. Lamenting that Shinde has reduced his own stature by making such baseless remarks, he wondered how many more baseless statements were made at the Congress convention in Jaipur where Shinde had made the controversial remark. “By saying that his statement was baseless, there were facts in his comments, Shinde has reduced his own stature. It does not behove a Home Minister to make baseless comments. “How many more things that were baseless were said at the Congress convention, this country needs to think about,” the RSS spokesperson said. Madhav also took a swipe at some Congress leaders in an another tweet, “…poured venom on india using his utterances. Also now, what wl d Congi (read ‘will the Congress’) leaders like Digvijay n Mani Aiyer say? Wl they also regret?” Ahead of the Budget session of Parliament that started today, BJP had staged a protest yesterday and threatened to boycott Shinde in Parliament till he retracted his statement.
