RJD leader shot dead while fast asleep in Bihar's Siwan district, probe underway

Siwan: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader was shot dead on Saturday by unidentified assailants in Bihar's Siwan district, police said.

"A group of armed unidentified assailants shot five bullets into Minhaj Khan's head while he was sleeping in his house in Sheikhpura village," district police officer Sanjit Kumar said.

According to the police, Khan, who was the general secretary of the youth wing of the RJD in Siwan, was a popular leader among youths and had nearly 5,000 followers on social media.

He is also said to be close to former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin who is currently in prison.

According to the Oneindia report, the police has found a live bomb and petrol tank outside Khan's residence. The police officials said that the bomb was defused and the probe is underway to nab the assailants, added the report.

In a similar incident, on 16 May RJD leader Pappu Gop was shot dead in Bihar's Patna district, News18 had reported. Pappu was attacked by unidentified assailants while he was out for morning walk.
