Uttar Pradesh: In Faizabad district's five constituencies — which include Ayodhya — there is still a debate on whether the basis for electing a candidate should be development or the Ram temple issue.
Traditionally a BJP stronghold, the saffron party has won the Ayodhya seat five times consecutively since 1991.
Despite cementing its position, it is alleged that the party failed to cash on brand Ayodhya and the town still remains underdeveloped.
Suryakant Pandey from the Samajwadi Party blames the BJP for the backwardness.
"The BJP is only to be blamed for this state of affairs. However, this time, all towns and villages in the district will vote for development," Pandey said in the Mere vote, mere sarkar programme hosted by IBN7.
