PDP is playing mind games over NC support in Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday asked PDP not to play “mind games” on the issue of support from his party, National Conference (NC), and said only a “verbal offer” had been conveyed. Only a verbal offer conveyed,” he tweeted. Omar, who party has 15 MLAs, made a surprise offer after the election results were announced on December 23 by extending his party’s support to PDP, which has 28 MLAs, in government formation. National Conference spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu had earlier said, “We have conveyed our offer of support to the PDP through channels of communication with that party.” “We have not sent any letter but it is a serious and formal offer of support to the single largest party for government formation,” he added. PDP spokesman Nayeem Akhtar, however, said his party has not received any communication from the National Conference and will deliberate whenever it does so. In Jammu, National Conference’s provincial president Devender Singh Rana also said, “Our president has said and we still maintain that if PDP comes forward to form the government we are ready to extend our support to them.” “We will support them completely,” Rana, who has been elected as MLA from Nagrota Assembly seat, said. He said PDP was the single largest party and it must come forward to provide the people of the state with a stable government. “If they accept the support, a stable government can be formed in the state,” he said.
