‘Opponents will put obstacles but Behenji will work for people’

Freed of a disproportionate assets case by the Supreme Court, a defiant Mayawati today thanked party workers for their support and said that many opponents would try and put obstacles in her path but she would continue to work for them.

“People should look at the lives of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram, who attempted to take this message forward. Despite numerous obstacles being placed in their path they were undeterred and continued with their work,” she said.

“They (the people) should know that their Behenji will continue the struggle on their behalf. They should know that many will try and put obstacles in her path but Behenji will continue to work for them,” Mayawati said.

The BSP leader also thanked party activists from across the country for their support throughout the case despite the ups and downs.

Mayawati accused the CBI of filing the case under pressure from the BJP government in 2003. The BSP chief also thanked the Supreme Court for listening to her version of the case and giving her justice.
