Media trying hard to divide BJP and Akali Dal: Naresh Gujral

by Aug 29, 2012

Naresh Gujral, MP from the Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and an ally of the NDA , said that media is trying hard to project a split between the parties over their stand on the Coalgate scam.

“Media is trying very hard (to divide SAD and BJP), they even projected as there is a division,” Gujral said to CNN-IBN.

“We are totally on the same page as the BJP, don’t try to divide us,” he added.

Gujral said their demand is that all the coal mining licenses should be cancelled and the matter should be investigated by a sitting supreme court judge.

“I am all for a debate in the Parliament, provided the government announce that they are cancelling licenses which were given to cronies, in which fixers had a hand and nation suffered a loss,” he said.

“There is a Raj Dharma. Prime Minister is the custodian of the nation’s wealth. When the wealth is being squandered away like this we want an inquiry. We want an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge and not by CBI which plays in Government’s hand,” he added.
