LoC remains tense with fresh firing at 8 locations

by Jan 11, 2013

Tensions between India and Pakistan are showing no signs of abating, despite statements by both sides that the recent tensions caused by the brutal killing of two Indian soldiers should not get in the way of improving bilateral relations. Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said she hoped that the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control would not be a setback to or derail the peace process with India.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the Indo-Pakistan visa agreement will not be affected.

The diplomatic speak has not however, calmed tensions.

Cross border trade along the Line of Control was halted after at least 25 fully loaded Indian trucks were not allowed to unload at the Chakan Da Bagh crossing in Poonch.

Later, more instances of firing were reported along the border.
