Tejashwi Yadav, 28, the younger son of Lalu Prasad, is set to start his first padyatra from West Champaran district from 9 August, where Mahatma Gandhi launched his first satyagraha in 1917, to "expose" Nitish Kumar's "double speak" and his "opportunistic alliance" with the BJP to form the government after dumping the RJD and Congress of Grand Alliance.

Lalu Prasad, addressing reporters, said he was unable to go to the people to tell them about Nitish Kumar's "betrayal" in view of his regular appearance before the court in Ranchi in Jharkhand in connection with the fodder scam case.

"I am keen to go to people to tell them how Nitish Kumar betrayed their mandate for the Grand Alliance, but am unable to as I have to regularly appear before the court," Lalu Prasad told media in Patna.

"Tejashwi Yadav will tell the people about the betrayal of Nitish Kumar. Tejashwi Yadav is going to the people and he will also invite people to attend the RJD's 27 August rally in Patna against the BJP," he added.

Tejashwi Yadav will reach out to people during his 'Janadesh Apman Yatra' from Wednesday, Lalu Prasad said.

Previously, Lalu Prasad called Nitish Kumar "Paltu Ram of politics" for breaking the Grand Alliance and forming a new government with the BJP.

The entire RJD, including party senior leaders, MPs, MLAs and workers have been in the field urging people to join the "BJP hatao, desh bachao" rally in Patna on 27 August.
