Khurshid threatens legal action against Kejriwal, Aaj Tak

Oct 12, 2012

London: Law Minister Salman Khurshid has threatened to initiate legal action against Arvind Kejriwal and Hindi TV channel Aaj Tak for alleging that an NGO headed by him siphoned off Rs 71 lakh meant for physically challenged people in Uttar Pradesh.

“I think what they’ve done is worse than behaving like gutter snipes. The only answer they deserve is suitable suit filed in court – and that will be done by both civil and criminal procedures,” Khurshid said while reacting to the allegation against the NGO, Zakir Husain Memorial Trust, run by his wife Louis Khurshid.

The Minister told NDTVthat he will take legal action against activist-turned-politician Kejriwal and Aaj Tak.

“Do you really think I am mad? That I would siphon off money? Where we’ve been working for 15 years… giving people tricycles, giving people different implements. This is my constituency. You don’t cheat on the people of your constituency,” the minister said.

Khurshid also attacked Kejriwal, saying he should first explain what he has been doing all his life.

“He should first explain where he gets his money from. How he lives, he should tell us how he travels. He should tell us what he’s done with the funds that come,” the minister said, “but we’ll take care of Mr Kejriwal in due course, don’t worry.”

Yesterday, Louis in a statement had said “This (allegation) is irrelevant and bizarre because the Trust has never submitted any documents to any other authority where it claims or which are signed or held out to be signed by one Tapasvee Lal.”
