Mumbai: India Against Corruption (IAC) Tuesday claimed credit for Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s resignation.
“His (Pawar’s) name is embroiled in the irrigation scam which IAC Mumbai brought to light. Our activist, Anjali Damania, and other activists have worked relentlessly in exposing this scam,” an IAC spokesperson said here.

The irrigation scam is not just about money — allegedly involving over Rs.75,000 crore — but about the “shameless rape” of the state’s resources towards projects benefitting contractors, the IAC said in a statement.
“It is about anti-nationals who treat villagers worse than slaves, taking away their homes, livelihood, dignity, and about blatant violations of every rule in the book,” it said.
The IAC said that like all whistle-blowers, Anjali Damania and other activists suffered defamations, harassment and threats but they stood firm and their stand was vindicated.
“We await a full-fledged probe and will be keen to supply ample proof on the collusion between politicians, government officials and contractors. IAC will remain firm in its goals to root out corruption from this nation,” it said.
