Heading into a stormy session of Parliament where the Opposition has promised to target the government on a range of issues, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said his government was ready for discussion on all matters and sought the support of all political parties in passing laws for the country.
"The government is ready for any discussion in accordance with rules and procedures in Parliament," Singh told reporters outside Parliament today.
"I sincerely hope that all political parties will cooperate with the government in ensuring that this session moves forward smoothly to tackle the many legislative questions which are now before the two Houses," he said.
When asked about the violence in Assam, which had refused to abate even after his visit there, Singh said they would discuss the matter in Parliament.
However, the Opposition had already begun preparing its offensive against the government, with the BJP moving an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha, CNN IBN reported.
The BJP had moved the motion seeking the suspension of Question Hour in order to debate on the violence in Assam.
