Has Nitish invited Pranab to Bihar to halt Modi's mega rally?

A day after a JD(U) leader urged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to cancel BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s proposed Bihar rally on 27 October, has the CM actually acted on it? The Bihar CM has reportedly invited President Pranab Mukherjee to visit on the same dates. Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted saying that Nitish Kumar is ‘playing all tricks’ to stop Modi’s rally in Bihar. “First, permission for whole Maidan was denied, now Nitish Kumar has invited the President to Patna on the same dates,” he tweeted.   The BJP leader also said that the President should reconsider his visit dates in Patna as the Modi rally had been planned before he had been invited to the state. A JD(U) leader had reportedly told Nitish Kumar that it will be a “dangerous challenge for the peaceful environment of the state” if Modi is allowed to organise a rally in Patna. “I also request you not to hesitate in arresting Modi if he dares to hold this rally in anyway,” the JD(U) youth wing national general secretary Pradeep Yadav had said in a letter to the Chief Minister. Saying that the ‘Hunkar’ rally may pose a serious challenge to the peaceful environment in Bihar, Yadav charged BJP with being “hell bent” on destroying harmony and creating communal tension in the state ever since JD(U) parted ways with NDA. " Copies of the letter were sent to JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav and state unit chief Bashistha Narayan Singh. Earlier, a controversy had erupted when the Patna district administration had conveyed its decision to provide permission to BJP to hold rally only in half portion of the historic Gandhi Maidan in view of proposed Education Day celebration and book fair from October 20 to 30. As soon as the letter to this effect bearing signature of an Additional District Magistrate reached BJP office, the party got infuriated saying it was done following instruction from “above” out of political rivalry. Later, the DM intervened and granted permission to BJP to hold the rally in the entire Gandhi maidan. The rally will be Modi’s first political engagement in Nitish Kumar’s home turf.
