The Gujarat assembly polls may turn out to be a catalyst in determining who is a better candidate from the NDA to be the next prime minister – Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi or his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar. “Though it is the central BJP leadership that can settle the PM nominee debate between Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, I believe Gujarat election result will hold the key. If Modi gets a thumping majority, who knows he can be a frontrunner in the NDA PM candidate race,” Bihar BJP president and Rajya Sabha parliamentarian CP Thakur told The Indian Express.[caption id=“attachment_507497” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Image courtesy PIB[/caption] Thakur said although there are some differences with the Janata Dal-United, the overall relationship between the two parties is good. However, he added that NDA is yet to take a decision on the prime ministerial candidate. The BJP was happy with Nitish Kumar for saying that JD-U and BJP would contest the next Lok Sabha polls together, the MP told The Indian Express. BJP leaders from each state are campaigning in both the poll-bound states.
Thakur said although there are some differences with the Janata Dal-United, the overall relationship between the two parties is good.
