The BJP today mounted a multi-pronged attack on UPA targeting the government’s failures in areas of economic and other major policy decisions. Reuters[/caption] Former finance minister and senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha raised 18 questions asking P Chidambaram to explain the UPA government’s poor handling of the economy. He asked the current Finance Minister why the economy took a beating during the UPA rule, despite being handed, what Sinha termed, “a robust economy which grew at the rate of 8 percent in 2003-04.” Sinha was one of the four BJP leaders along side Piyush Goyal, Dr Subramaniam Swamy and Smriti Iraani who held press conferences from different cities escalating BJP’s attack on the Congress-led government.
