Increasingly under siege over the authenticity of his law degree, AAP minister Jitender Singh Tomar has told Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that he is the victim of a ‘BJP plot’. The Indian Express quoted Tomar as saying that he had submitted all the valid evidence and proof of his law degree. “This is a political conspiracy by the BJP that exercises control on universities and by the Congress which is struggling to make itself relevant after being routed in the Delhi assembly elections,” he had reportedly said. [caption id=“attachment_2222118” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] AFP image[/caption] Tomar has repeatedly cried foul over the allegations against him. He has constantly referred to the issue as a conspiracy and a plot. He has said that Delhi BJP leader Nand Kishor Garg has been targeting him because he could not defeat him in the elections. His comments come after Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University said that they had no record of his existence as a student in the institution. “Garg runs a couple of universities in Delhi as well as Himachal Pradesh and, due to his contacts with other universities, he has been able to obtain certain documents by citing incorrect particulars. These incorrect documents have been cited as evidence in the election petition,” the Express report added. Garg for his part, has said that there is ’nothing personal’ about the campaign against Tomar. The increasingly cornered Tomar is also scheduled to make a reply to the Delhi High Court against the allegations against him. At one point he even lashed out at the media, asking why they were not so zealous in pointing out the lapses and misdemeanors of MPs and MLAs belonging to other parties. ““You (media) don’t leave even a small matter if it is about Aam Aadmi Party. You know about the degree of Smriti Irani…I will give you the paper on record. On one hand, she writes that she is graduate from Delhi University, but at second time, she writes that she is Class 12th pass. A rape case is also registered against Nihal Chand, who is Union Minister, but you don’t speak,” he said in comments reported by PTI . Tomar has also threatened to take legal action against Garg once his name is cleared.
