Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday, hit out at the Gujarat government saying that it had carried out six fake encounters. His comments come even as the CBI is expected to file its first charge sheet in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
"The Gujarat government carried out six fake encounters including the Sadiq Jamal encounter which the media has not highlighted yet," Singh said.
Singh slammed the BJP saying that it was not only defending Narendra Modi, but also other people involved in terrorism. "The BJP has been openly defending others involved in terrorism like Swami Aseemanand and Pragya Thakur," he said.
While Swami Aseemanand of the RSS is said to be involved in the Samjhauta blast case, Pragya Thakur was arrested for the 2008 Malegaon blasts.
Critising the Sangh supporters Singh said, "The kind of language and abuse the Sangh supporters are using on social media, the Congress won't stoop to this level."
The CBI is likely to file a charge sheet in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case by Wednesday. The Gujarat High Court on Monday dismissed the plea of Gujarat IPS officer PP Pandey in connection with the case since he has been declared as absconding by another court.
