Pranab Mukherjee may be a clear front runner for the Presidential elections 2012 but his sole competitor PA Sangma believes that despite not much in his favour presently, he has God on his side and might swing the presidential poll in his favour.
"Somebody came to me day before yesterday and told me to be careful as the corporate body in this country is with Pranab Mukherjee. I replied to him by asking do you know on whose side god is?"Sangma said on the show Devil's Advocate on CNN IBN.
"God is with me. I am standing for principles, for democracy and for the welfare of the poor people. I am very clear in my conscious," he said.
When asked that if he lost the election he could become a laughing stock , Sangma said, "Not at all. Politics moves very fast, anything can happen."
"Many people laugh at my height also. I don't mind if people laugh at me," Sangma joked.
Sangma also said that he strongly believes in miracles.
"Miracles happen in this world and I believe in miracles," he said.
The Presidential elections will be held on 19 July and the results will be declared by 22 July.
Mukherjee and Sangma are presently lobbying for political support in the race. While Mukherjee has the support of the UPA and other political parties, Sangma presently has been openly supported only by some constituents of the NDA.
