BJP demands inquiry into charges against Khurshid

Oct 14, 2012

Bangalore: BJP today demanded an inquiry into allegations of siphoning off funds and forgery by an NGO owned by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Louise.

“He is the Law Minister and supposed to uphold country’s law… if there is an allegation of forgery, then it is unfortunate. The matter requires to be inquired into,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.

Khurshid and his wife are facing allegations of forging signature of officials to benefit the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. They have denied the charges. Prasad also demanded an independent inquiry by a Supreme Court Judge into allegations that lands belonging to Dalits in Haryana had been sold to companies owned by Sonia Gandhi‘s son-in-law Robert Vadra.

“It (sale of Dalits’ land) is very unfortunate and regrettable. An independent inquiry should be initiated possibly under a Supreme Court Judge into the matter,” he said.

Asked whether BJP was scared of taking action against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa even after he declared his intention to launch a new party, Prasad said the matter was in consideration by the central leadership. “Yeddyurappa is a senior leader. Beyond this I have nothing more to comment,” he added.
