After violence by supporters of murdered milita head Brahmeshwar Singh refused to die down, the Bihar government has recommended a CBI probe into the incident. Singh, the former head of banned caste-based militia Ranvir Sena, was shot multiple times and killed in his hometown of Arrah in Bihar on 1 June. No arrests have been made in the case yet. PTI”]  [/caption] Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today recommended the CBI probe after a decision was taken during a meeting he had with top state police officials and home department officials at his residence this morning. State director general of police Abhayanand and principal secretary of home department Aamir Subhani also attended the meeting. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, LJP president Ram Vilash Paswan and Bihar Congress had demanded a CBI inquiry to probe the killing. Supporters of Singh have been indulging in violence and arson since the murder and had even manhandled the Director General of Police who had visited Singh’s family after his death. Protestors had set fire to a police outpost and several vehicles enroute to the Sena chief’s funeral procession yesterday and beat up members of the public as well as police personnel. The Bihar government was also preparing a report on the violence and arson perpetrated by alleged Ranvir Sena supporters on the streets of Patna which will be submitted to Governor Devanand Konwar, officials said. Sending the state government in a tizzy, the governor had asked for a report about the violence during the Sena chief’s funeral procession and had cut short his visit to New Delhi and arrived in Patna on Sunday. with inputs from PTI
