A group of people claiming to be Anna supporters were beaten up outside the Patiala House Court by members of the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena who were responsible for assaulting senior advocate and civil rights activist Prashant Bhushan. Three people, who were badly injured in the attack, have been admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
The incident came as two of those arrested for the attack on Bhushan — Vishnu Gupta and Tejendra Pal Bagga — were produced in court today. Both were sent to a day's judicial custody. The protesters were demanding the release of all three people arrested in connection with the attack. One of the attackers was quoted by media as saying, "If thugs from the ISI can conduct anti-India speeches, then we will thrash all of them."
The little known Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena denied links with the BJP, and said that they will attack anyone who makes "anti national" statements. Bhushan was beaten up for statements he made in Varanasi where he said he was not against a referendum on Kashmir.
