by Mar 9, 2012

The suspense over the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister seems to have ended. According to media reports, it was decided on Friday that Akhilesh Yadav will be taking on the post of Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has convinced senior party leaders that Akhilesh should be the next Chief Minister of the state, reported CNN-IBN.

At 38, Akhilesh will be the youngest UP Chief Minister ever. The Samajwadi Party stormed back to power with a stunning win in Uttar Pradesh capturing 224 seats.

The SP parliamentary board will meet on 10 March to formally decide and announce the CM of Uttar Pradesh.

But it may not be very easy for Akhilesh. Media reports  said Mulayam's younger brother Shivpal Singh and SP leader Azam Khan are opposed to the idea of Akhilesh as CM.
