Anna’s move to disband team part of growing up: Khurshid

Aug 7, 2012

New Delhi: Law Minister Salman Khurshid said Anna Hazare‘s move to disband his team which was agitating on Lokpal was “part of growing up and moving ahead” while Congress steered clear of the issue, terming it as their internal matter which was “not relevant” to the party.

Khurshid, however, said he found little sense in their decision not to hold talks with the government, saying “in politics, you have to talk to everybody”

“…I think it has been a collective decision. It is part of growing up and moving ahead,” he said when asked about Hazare’s move to disband Team Anna.

Asked how does he view the decision of Hazare not to hold talks with government, the minister said it does not make sense to him.

“In politics, you have to talk to everybody. You may be disappointed, but that is another matter,” he said.

On the Lokpal Bill, Khurshid said that further action on the issue was possible only after the Rajya Sabha Select Committee gives its report.

At the AICC briefing, party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said, “It is their own internal matter… whatever happened is not relevant to us in the total scheme of things. We are neither unhappy nor happy. We have no opinion on his team.”

Apparently paving the way for the formation of a political party, Team Anna today disbanded itself and decided not to have any more talks with the government on Lokpal issue.

The dissolution of Anna Hazare’s team came three days after it ended its indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar here with plans for formation of a political alternative to fight the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
