AAP launches Main Bhi Aam Aadmi campaign, sees one crore membership by Jan-end

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched the party’s free membership drive ‘Main Bhi Aam Aadmi’, four months ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. [caption id=“attachment_1333269” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Firstpost/Naresh Sharma](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/AAP-Satyagraha-campaign-Naresh.jpg) Firstpost/Naresh Sharma[/caption] Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Kejriwal said his party aims to enrol at least one crore members by the end of this month. “With the launch of this free membership drive, our target is to reach at least one crore members by 26 January,” he said. To enrol as a member, Kejriwal announced a mobile number to which people can SMS their details including their Lok Sabha constituency and the party would get in touch with them at the earliest. However, only one member can register per mobile number. Citizens can also register for free through their website. “We will look at the credentials of the person before giving them any leadership role in the party,” Kejriwal said when asked about leaders from various fields joining the party. He further confirmed that senior journalist Ashutosh as well as activist Medha Patkar have extended their support to AAP. Ashutosh would join the party in a few days, he said. Reiterating his stand against personal security, Kejriwal said there was no danger to his life, saying “I have a long lifeline… I don’t need any security.” On power discoms claiming they were facing losses, Kejriwal said the companies were here to do business and “they should deal with it themselves.” Kejriwal further said the government is committed to passing the Jan Lokpal bill at an Assembly session in Ramlila Grounds in Delhi, signalling that his government will fulfill the pre-poll announcement he had made.
