Rajesh Khanna might have waned into oblivion in his last days and much has been written about his self-imposed alienation, but ironically enough, he was far from being alone in his last journey. All that he had reportedly lost after he faded from stardom, seemed to be back as his hearse left Ashirwad, his bungalow on Carter Road in Mumbai for the crematorium. Thousands thronged the entire stretch of Carter Road and braved the heavy, incessant rain to catch a glimpse of his coffin. There were reports of mild lathi-charge too as the crowd went berserk, trying to get as close as possible to the car. The float, on which, his hearse was being carried was covered with flowers and had daughter Rinki, wife Dimple, son-in-law Akshay and grandson Arav in attendance apart from close friends of the family. Reportedly, daughter Twinkle, who is expecting her second child couldn't attend the funeral procession due to health issues and the fear of crowds.
