Eurogroup head warns against a game of chicken with Greece | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Greece and the euro zone should not play a game of chicken to see who can hold out longer in negotiations about more lending to Athens in exchange for reforms, the chairman of euro zone finance ministers Jeroen Dijsselbloem said on Friday. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund meetings, Dijsselbloem said representatives of Greece's creditors would not be able to produce a deal for the approval of euro zone finance ministers on April 24th as hoped, because progress on agreeing reforms was painfully slow. #european #France #Greece #Latin America #lifestyle #markets #Middle East #opinion #science #Sports

In Labour's Scottish bastion, nationalists prepare an upset | Reuters

GLASGOW/LONDON (Reuters) - In Scotland's biggest city, nationalists have triggered a once-in-a-century shift in political loyalties that could dash Labour leader Ed Miliband's dreams of winning the May 7 election and thrust secessionist 'kingmakers' to the heart of British power. The shifting currents in Glasgow, the citadel of Scottish socialism for more than a century, show the seriousness of the nationalists' bid to end Labour's dominance of Scotland, a significant change in recent British political history. The nationalist challenge could trigger events after the election that threaten the future of the United Kingdom and possibly its membership of the European Union. #Africa #Argentina #India #Latin America #lifestyle #markets #opinion #Politics #Technology #United Kingdom #United States

G20 more upbeat on growth, but officials fret over Greece | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Group of 20 leading economies struck a hopeful tone on the outlook for global growth on Friday, even as officials fretted that Athens' inability to strike a deal with its lenders could upset Europe's tentative recovery. In a communique after a two-day meeting, G20 finance ministers and central bankers welcomed brighter economic signs in rich nations, but lamented weakness in emerging markets. "Risks to the global economy are more balanced since we last met," the finance officials said. #Business #Latin America #markets #Mexico #Middle East #opinion #Politics #science #Sports #United States

Physicists try to make sense of a dark matter puzzle from space | Reuters

GENEVA (Reuters) - A minibus-sized box of sensors whizzing round the earth every 91 minutes has sent back data that is tantalising theorists who want to know why their existing model of the universe no longer adds up. Clamped to the International Space Station, the 7.5-tonne Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) intercepts particles from outer space, looking for evidence of "dark matter", which has never been seen but is thought to be five times as abundant in the universe as visible matter #Copyright #Economy #Entertainment #France #Latin America #lifestyle #science #Technology #United States
