In the month of April, while Reliance Jio lead the race in terms of customer acquisition, it has had a slow growth for active subscribers.
As per TRAI's(Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) monthly subscriber report,the number of telephone subscribers has increased by 4.31 million from the end of March to the end of April, this year. The number of wireless subscribers increased from 1,170.18 million in March to 1,174.60 million in April.
According toPTI, Reliance Jio which was the hotbed for new subscriber connections since September saw its net subscriber addition decrease this month to 3.73 million. This is, unlike the month of December, last year, where the customer base had peaked to 20.2 million. Meanwhile, Airtel has added 2.85 million with BSNL adding 0.81 million, followed by Vodafone at 0.75 million and Idea at 0.68 million.
Losing to 1.46 million users, TATA Teleservices saw the biggest loss, followed by Reliance Communications who lost 1.32 million subscribers. Aircel lost 0.33 million.
According to a recent Open Signal 'State of LTE' global report, Jio’s rising subscriber base has amplified the growth of 4G in India.
