New Delhi: Women in the capital will enjoy free rides in public buses Thursday on Raksha Bandhan day, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced Wednesday.
“Women in Delhi would be able to travel for free in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses on Raksha Bandhan day so that women can easily reach their brothers’ place,” said Dikshit.
Women in Delhi will be allowed free rides in all DTC buses and the green low-floor buses till 5 p.m. Thursday.
On Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties a Rakhi (decorative thread) on the wrist of her brother, and he, in turn, gives her gifts and vows to protect her.
