“When women are depressed, they either eat or go shopping. Men invade another country.” Women have always been the victim of such sarcastic jokes for such a long time that it does not surprise them anymore. They have been smirked at for their habit of shopping as most people (read - men) believe that the ladies are indulgent or rather, over-indulgent and shop mostly for themselves. It is high time that people realize that #WhenAWomanShops, it is often not because she ‘loves to shop’ but she ‘shops to show her love’. As essential caregivers, they feel naturally responsible towards their loved ones.

Men, on the other hand, are often confused and feel helpless when it comes to shopping, especially when it is for someone else. Even if they know the person, they usually don’t have the slightest clue of what exactly to gift someone. Sadly, men don’t realize that most of the time, it is the women in their lives who fulfill this role of gifting. What they also fail to understand is that the better variety of clothes, accessories and household items have always been picked by the women in their lives – be it their wife, mother, sister or daughter.

The idea of shopping and happy women goes hand in hand. This is probably because of the age-old stereotype across all cultures that inherently assume women as shopaholics. It is time to break free from clichéd notions and unmask the reality!

Debunking this age-old myth on women and shopping, this social experiment video portrays women in the true light. If you are a man, you may want to reconsider your perceptions about the women in your life after watching this.
