Dealing with the Income Tax department is not easy. More often than not, the wait for your grievance redressal or a refund for that matter is a long one. To address these issues, the IT department will soon issue Unique Acknowledgement Numbers (UAN) for your grievances, notes a report in Business Standard today.
This UAN will be the magic number which will help the IT department process your grievance faster (two months). In short, there will be speedier resolution to your grievance. There slow redressal has been because of a number of problems with the IT department, like staff shortage and technical mistakes (for example, uploading incorrect arrears).
A proper monitoring system would work to not only know the number of complaints but also the number of complaints which have reached a resolution.
And according to the IT department, the issuance of the UAN would probably address these issues.
But many experts believe that the new UAN may not really be able to hasten the process of refunds for a number of reasons. Hence they suggest it will be better to use the traditional route for filing for refunds.
