Rajasthan shocker: Shiv Sena activists thrash Muslim man in Barmer for being with Hindu woman

A 25-year-old Muslim man was allegedly thrashed by Shiv Sena activists on Thursday for being with a Hindu woman in a hotel in Rajasthan's Barmer district, according to reports.

According to The Indian Express, Padu Khan had checked into Mansarover Hotel in Balotra town with a Hindu Rajput woman.

"Padu Khan had checked in our hotel along with a middle-aged woman around 10 am. The woman was wearing a traditional Rajasthani attire. About half hour later, the woman's relatives somehow came to know that she was here and five persons reached the hotel," Mansarover Hotel owner Multan Parihar was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Parihar further said that he went out for sometime and when he returned, the hotel staff informed him that men from Shiv Sena had gathered outside the hotel. The activists then allegedly dragged Khan out of hotel and assaulted him while chanting 'Jai Sri Ram'.

According to Times Now, Parihar also admitted that Khan would not have survived the assault if the police had got delayed in reaching. The mob repeatedly assaulted Khan, saying it was a case of "love jihad".

Khan was later taken a local hospital for primary treatment, according to police.

In July this year, BJP MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja from Rajasthan had accused Ramgarh police of "letting love jihad, illegal mining and other crimes flourish in the area," PTI had reported.

In March, Hindustan Times reported that a panchayat in Hanumangarh district had decided to boycott Muslims of a village after a man allegedly eloped with a Hindu woman.
