According to PTI, in three weeks since he took over as the President of India, Kovind has given assent to six key legislations, including the one that extends the jurisdiction of trial in cases of maritime claims, arrests, and detentions of ships to various courts. All the legislations, which got the presidential nod, were recently passed by the Parliament.
The president is expected to speak about the issues that the country has been facing recently and the developments that India has witnessed since BJP came to power. The speech will also be broadcast live on YouTube. You can watch it here when it begins:
In last year's speech, former president Pranab Mukherjee focused on the passage of the Constitution Amendment Bill for GST, intolerance, attacks on "weaker sections" of the society, obstructionism in politics, the sanctity of the Constitution, India's development, foreign policy, and terrorism. Whether Kovind will follow a similar route will be worth looking forward to.
