For @pitrodasam ‘s First Ever Press Conference on “Democratisation of Internet” Please Use #DoI to tweet in your views”

To begin with, you can expect goofs such as this one. “Achievements-UPA”, being updated by the user handle ‘@UPAGovt, confuses one and all, telling the twitterati that the conference would be on “Democratisation of Internet. Uhoh. No. The conference will discuss “Democratisation of Information,” according to Sam Pitroda, the adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovation, who will chair the conference.

For those who want to get Sam Pitroda’s attention, his handle is @PitrodaSam.

And for all those who tweet their thoughts, opinions and questions on the conference, @PitrodaSam wants you to append the hashtag #DoI at the end of your tweet.

The hashtag makes it interesting – because it’s not unique. Someone in Sam Pitroda’s team should have checked it out, as we did. Many have used #DoI attached to tweets which ask the question “Do I…?”

For example, Brandon Antoine (@Brantoine41) asks the world: “Do I just need to get up and get on with my life? #DoI

Sydney March ‏@MarchSydney has more existential worries. “Do I have your love am I still enough tell me don’t I or tell me do I baby #DoI” he (she?) asks plaintively.

Kendall Petty ‏@KENdAllO3 aks, “Does the sight of me wanting you drive you crazy #DoI

That’s enough – but, in between serious stuff that Sam Pitroda has to deal with, questions like these are going to pop up – thanks to Sam’s team not creating a unique hashtag for the press conference.

And it won’t help that, thanks to @UPAGovt, he’s going to be bombarded by questions pertaining to the “Democratisation of Internet.” And that’s a whole new ball game.

Well, the conference is 30 minutes away. Let’s wait and watch. We’re watching closely, and we’ll keep you abreast.
