Panicky Chennai chokes streets following tsunami warning

The tsunami warning following the earthquake three hours ago has triggered a massive traffic jam in Chennai with panicky office goers rushing home. On Anna Salai and Santhom High Road the roads are completely choked.

Schools were immediately closed with some announcing an extended holiday till Sunday.

The tsunami warning has sent a chill down the spine of the residents of north Chennai. Evacuation is on at the Marina and Besant Nagar beaches.

The movie theatres were also evacuated.
