Noida Expressway accident: Lamborghini, two more cars involved in deadly crash leave one dead

One man was killed on Saturday afternoon as a car was smashed by a Lamborghini that swerved in order to avoid a speeding Swift Dzire, according to India Today. The accident occurred in Sector 135 of Noida on the Expressway.

According to The Times of India, the victim, Arshad Ahmed, was a resident of Delhi's Mandawali. Ahmed was taken to Jaypee Hospital in Sector 128, where he was declared brought dead.

NDTV reported that the victim was driving a Maruti Eeco. The Swift Dzire seemed to be overtaking the Lamborghini when the latter swerved to the left in order to avoid a collision. The report mentioned that it was unclear whether the driver of the Dzire momentarily lost control.

However, Mohnish Khan, who was driving the speeding Dzire, claimed that the Lamborghini was trying to overtake his vehicle, and hence, he overtook it after that, as per The Times of India. Khan was later arrested, as reported by Times Now.

The Swift Dzire scraped the Lamborghini, which then tried to prevent a collision by deviating to its left lane, as per NDTV.

The Lamborghini then hit the Eeco, which tumbled several times before crashing, as reported by Times Now. The report mentioned that sources within Noida police stated that the Swift Dzire was attempting to race with the Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini was currently untraceable as the driver fled from the spot immediately after the accident, as per Times Now.

Vedpal Pundir, station house officer, Expressway police station, told The Times of India: "We are trying to verify whether the Lamborghini too made an error. Its driver has not been identified so far and we will see if the person is guilty."

In February, an accident took place when, as per Hindustan Times, a Sharda University student died in an accident in Sector 144 on Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. A Ford EcoSport and Swift Dzire were involved in the accident.

Anuj Kumar, station house officer of Surajpur police station told Hindustan Times: “Prima facie it seems that EcoSport was speeding, and the driver applied hand-brakes suddenly, due to which the car lost control and toppled several times. Swift Dzire, which was behind the SUV also lost control and rammed into the divider.”

Police said that the 20-year-old victim, Paras Ahluwalia, was pursuing BTech from Sharda University. Ahluwalia died on the spot whereas other students in the car survived with injuries.

In another previous instance, a speeding car flew over a flyover in Delhi, as mentioned in a Firstpost article. Four people died in the accident.
