New role for reluctant Anna in Kejriwal’s political plan?

by Sep 19, 2012

Though Anna Hazare agreed to extend ‘conditional support’ to India Against Corruption’s soon to be launched political party, sources say that he has decided to stay away from politics altogether.

No political ambitions? Firstpost/ Naresh Sharma

In a meeting in Pune yesterday, Anna said, “”I had long time back decide not to contest elections. I have given my life for social service and if I seek elections, then I am working for myself.”

He clearly said that he would have nothing to do with politics and will consult other experience people before deciding his future course of action.

Following his protest rally in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will share the results of a survey conducted by India Against Corruption, which showed nearly 76 per cent of the respondents were in favour of forming a political party in Wednesday’s meeting.

Kiran Bedi, another anti-corruption crusader has joined Anna in today’s meeting with Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. She clarified that the meeting will see a clear decision on the issue of forming a political party and what role Anna would play.
