Madan Tamang murder accused given bail by Kolkata HC

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court today granted bail to four persons accused in the killing of All India Gorkha League leader Madan Tamang at Darjeeling in 2010.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Patel and Justice Joymalyo Bagchi granted the bail prayers of the four accused, who were in judicial custody.

With Swadesh Rai Majhi, Sipen Maley, Sumi Rai and Puran Rai allowed bail, all the accused in the case have been granted bail. Prime accused Nicole Tamang allegedly fled from CID custody.

Madan Tamang was killed on May 21 last year at Chowrasta in Darjeeling town when he was to address a public meeting. Nicole, a Gorkha Janmukti Morcha central committee member, absconded after the killing and was arrested by the CID on August 15 from a hideout at Bijonbari in Darjeeling. He disappeared from CID custody in Pintail village near Siliguri on August 21.
