by Feb 13, 2013

Soon after Finmeccanica Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Orsi was arrested by the Italian police over alleged bribes paid to secure the sale of 12 AgustaWestland executive aircraft when he was head of the Finmeccanica helicopter unit, Ex-Airforce chief SP Tyagi’s name has surfaced as the one who the company bribed to swing the deal in their favour.

Tyagi, consequently, expressed shock and surprise at his name being brought up in the scam. In an interview to Headlines Today Tyagi said, “I have no idea how my name has appeared in this report. I am shocked and in disbelief. I have had nothing to do with this. How could I have been bribed?”

Defence minister AK Antony instituted a CBI probe into the incident and said strong measures will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the case.

We are live blogging the developments in the case.
