Live: 5 protesters detained after violence at Jantar Mantar

The Delhi gangrape victim, who was brutally assaulted in a moving bus in New Delhi died on Saturday morning at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore. The girl’s body was flown from Singapore to New Delhi and arrived at around 3 am in the morning.

The cremation took place in private and according to reports UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were present to receive to the victim’s body.

The assault and subsequent death of this 23-year-old girl have sparked a wave of protests across India. Today, too protesters will gather at Jantar Mantar to raise their voices against violent crimes that women across India face on a daily basis.
