New Delhi: A delegation of BJP leaders who were former Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) office bearers, on Wednesday met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and discussed the law and order situation in the capital in the wake of the arrest of a JNU student leader in a sedition case.
The leaders submitted a memorandum to the LG and urged him to inquire into the incident at JNU campus.
"In the meeting, we discussed deteriorating law and order situation that has emerged after anti-India slogans were raised at the university. We also demanded the arrest of the guilty in the incident," Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, who was vice president of DUSU in 1982, said.
Among the leaders who were part of the delegation were Sardar RP Singh, Vijender Gupta, Rekha Gupta, Sudhanshu Mittal, Anil Jha and Ajay Chauhan.
Upadhyay said the delegation also requested the LG to take steps for resumption of studies in JNU.
JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested on 12 February in a sedition case in connection with an event at JNU last week to protest the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru where anti-India slogans were allegedly raised.
