Expelled RJD MP from Bihar Pappu Yadav on Tuesday allegedly misbehaved with a woman flight attendant of a Jet Airways flight from Patna after she asked him not to throw leftover food in the aisle.
The incident happened when the plane from Patna was on its way to New Delhi, airline sources said. “Yadav was extremely unruly with the cabin crew when she asked him not to throw the leftover food in the aisle and also misbehaved with her,” an airline source said.
The flight attendant wrote a complaint to the airline over the incident. "While having lunch on the flight, 1A (Pappu's seat number) dropped the dessert on his bag kept near his feet and asked the crew to clean it. (He) told the crew MPs don't do this work. 1A took off his chappal and showed it (to) the crew. (He) told the crew he would hit them with it if the crew told him anything," The Times of India quoted the flight attendant as saying in her complaint.
According to TV reports, Pappu Yadav also allegedly refused to put his seat in an upright position and snubbed the crew members when he was told to switch off his mobile phone. "For landing, 1A refused to upright his seat and unfastened his seat belt... After opening doors, 1A manhandled me and pushed me aside with force to get out of the aircraft...I went to the cockpit to inform the captain. I was in tears and physically hurt," the stewardess said in her complaint.
Yadav denied having indulged in any brawl on the flight. “Nothing of this sort happened,” Yadav told PTI. In fact, Yadav's supporters who were with him in the flight, in a bizarre twist, alleged that it was the air-hostess who misbehaved with Yadav.
"An airhostess should be soft-spoken," a Yadav supporter told Times Now. "None of the passengers abused or misbehaved with the flight attendant ... She blocked the entrance to the flight after it landed."
Jet Airways also reacted in a very guarded manner and did not disclose the identity of the passenger while admitting an incident onboard its Patna flight. “The captain of the flight 9W-728, before landing in Delhi, requested ATC for security assistance at the gate due to a disruptive guest onboard. The guest was led by security agencies on arrival,” Jet Airways said in a statement.
A CISF official also said that no complaint was received in this regard. “Noone, either the airline or its staff, has filed any complaint with us about the incident,” the official said.
Pappu Yadav is a politician who is infamous for the criminal allegations against him.
In February 2015, JD(U) had accused Yadav of indulging in horse-trading and released a footage of the phone call received by a JD(U) MLA in which Yadav allegedly offered him the "highest post" in the Assembly. Yadav denied the allegations made against him and told ANI, "The voice on the tape is not mine. It's not even my phone number. I will take legal action."
In 2011, Purulia arms drops case prime accused Kim Davy had named Yadav as the Member of Parliament who had helped him escape from India, reported Zee News. Davy, had played an active role in the infamous incident in which large consignment of arms, including several hundred AK-47 rifles had been dropped from a Latvian aircraft on the night of December 17, 1995 in West Bengal's Purulia district.
In 1999, Yadav had been arrested for the murder of Ajit Sarkar, a CPI-M member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had charged him and four others with conspiracy to murder. In 2013, Patna High Court acquitted Yadv in CPM leader Ajit Sarkar murder case for lack of evidence, reports the Times of India.
