Calling government a "property dealer" of farmers' land, former chief of army staff General VK Singh made an appearance at Ramlila ground with Yoga guru Baba Ramdev.
This was the second time Singh spoke at a gathering on corruption after sharing the dias with Anna Hazare and his aides on 4 August at Jantar Mantar. Singh was one of the signatories to the appeal demanding Team Anna to call off the agitation and consider a political alternative.
At Ramlila ground, Singh shifted focus of the debate to issues of farmers in the country.
"It is shocking but true that over two lakh farmers have committed suicide since 1995. Problems of farmers will have to take the forefront in this movement as government has turned a blind eye to their woes," said Singh.
Critisising the post liberalisation policies followed by successive governments, Singh said, "You can get pizza in 30 minutes, but you won't get an ambulance in two hour."
